That happened when it became impossible for most to hold public office and have a separate income. I know a few farmers who do, and one local construction guy. But civil service takes a lot of effort.
I know this off topic, but I wanted to answer one of Nick's questions that he made on social media (Twitter?) last year. Since Harry's and DSC went woke, I found an old-fashioned shaving company that uses American made products:
I agree with the earlier posts and would like to add. Once the cold war ended the whole Nation soon lost it's way. I've lamented it as soon as I'd noticed it.
