Wargaming conflict with China is an interesting trip. I think there are definitely circumstances that could trigger a shooting war with them, but I'm a firm believer that they're not overly confident in their chances at winning a war with us. Our Nuclear arsenal dwarfs theirs considerably, and though they could hurt us bad, they know we'd annihilate them too. Plus our Ballistic Defense capabilities could offset a lot of that. Another issue China has is its limited ability to truly project power, the number of blue water capable ships are few, their nuclear subs are noisy as hell ((but getting better I admit)), and their Aircraft Carriers are still in the infant stage.

Twenty years ago it was doubtful they could've successfully invaded Taiwan for crying out loud. Their fleet of amphibious warfare ships were ancient crap, and the Taiwanese had so many guns and missiles, it would've been a massacre. The airborne invasion component wasn't much better.

They could've turned Taiwan into rubble with their scores of surface to surface missiles, and then invaded.. But it was still a sketchy proposition.

They've been working hard to correct these short falls, they've modernized a lot of their navy, air force, army and more. But I don't think they're there quite yet. Its remarkable how far they've come with reversed engineered tech though.

I think they're playing the long game, asymmetric warfare, using cyber warfare, financial warfare and propaganda to help us do ourselves in. That is one thing about the Chinese, they don't think in terms of 4-8 years like we do, they think in decades, centuries even. And they see how irresponsible our government is acting. I imagine they're siting back and thinking, a war, conventional or nuclear, isn't going to be good for us.. If we're patient, and keep nudging the Americans gently, they'll implode all on their own. And that unfortunately is a very viable plan of action. I still contend that we did far more damage to ourselves in the wake of 9/11, than al Qaeda could've ever dreamed of doing.

BUT I think war is still possible, I don't think the Chinese use the nukes unless they get desperate. I think its a bloody conflict, fought mostly on sea, air, space and online, and I think we win it in the end. Its funny, I actually war gamed out a China vs US scenario for my "universe bible" that holds all the backstory/details to my scifi setting I've been working on.

It doesn't kick off till the 2040s, thanks to a very strong, America first type President. Anyway, it boils down to China making a power grab in light of the US developing functioning fusion power, and they realize the world is about to change and they're going to get left behind.

But it involves everything you talked about. Massive Cyberwarfare campaign that cripples the United States, sleeper cells sabotaging infrastructure and sowing chaos & terror throughout the country. They don't go nuclear for the same reasons I mentioned, but they do launch an all out first strike against US satellites. They hit them hard with ASAT missiles, take pop shots at Government & Privately owned space stations, it really does a number on things.

And, cue tinfoil time, I went down another rabbit hole that few talk about. There have been rumors and allegations for years that China has been gene doping some of its athletes at the Olympic games. JSOC has been flirting with the idea to augment our soldiers, while there are rumors that China is already doing it. In fact, I'll a thread that covers a number of articles and comments from Jack Murphy who's written about this, and used it as a plot device in one of his excellent, but underappreciated novels. https://twitter.com/jackmurphyrgr/status/1335089237146931200

But maybe thats something we have to consider if we come to blows. Its funny you mention Rods from God, the US drops the hammer with those and devastates key Chinese targets. Other developing tech as well, US Power Armor troops vs Chinese Super Soldiers! China has some neat/scary toys of their own, since there were no limits or questions of ethics on their research.

But it plays out largely like you said, the US wins a costly war, but it goes far to clear the debt issue, it burns out a lot of the batshit crazy ideologies we're dealing with and allows the US to thrive for a good while.

It was an interesting thing to write on. And scary at times. I didn't go into deep details on post war China, but.. The idea of the CCP being pushed out, and taken over by the shady tech giants is an interesting line of thought. But yeah, thats my ramblings and some tinfoil for you two today!

The reverse engineering of tech is what soured me on Israel. They've sold us out to China and the CCP and helped push China along a path of evil and destruction. That small nation might be our "ally," but they are NOT our friends. https://www.military.com/defensetech/2013/12/24/report-israel-passes-u-s-military-technology-to-china

Comey and Mueller ran the FBI for 16 years. There's no way the rank and file aren't as bad as they were. The fish rots from the head.

In the order stating that CA's assault weapons ban is unconstitutional, Judge Benitez stated, "Like the Swiss Army Knife, the popular AR-15 rifle is a perfect combination of home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment. Good for both home and battle, the AR-15 is the kind of versatile gun that lies at the intersection of the kinds of firearms protected under District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008) and United States v Miller, 307 U.S. 174 (1939)."

And so of course everyone lost their minds because of the comparison to a Swiss Army Knife. But later in the order, he wrote, "More people have died from the Covid-19 vaccine than mass shootings in California."

This shows that no one freaking out about the Swiss Army Knife comparison read the whole opinion, cause they would have really lost their minds over that comparison. But they would have had to read 47 pages to get to it, and who has that kind of time?

You all are doing great with the podcast, keep it up!

A war between the CCP and the US is a loosing war for the CCP. But not for what you think. All the US needs to do is to use its vast navy to blockade China.

China is an import/export economy. It relies on the import of raw materials to export them to the world. It can't keep going without it. One. It uses more raw materials than it produces. It's factories will run out of material for that reason alone. The goods it does produce will sit in storage if it can't get it out.

So for the US to win, all it needs to do is to occupy the first island chain, remove China from the South China Sea and then hold the line. It'll be an air and naval fight. China needs to take out the chain before the US can deploy. That from the Philippines, Taiwan and Japan. If China can get a nuclear strike out, that won't win the war. It will need to level the whole of the US. The US is a sleeping dragon that can and will turn its economy at the drop of a hat. It did in WW1 and WW2. A nuclear strike on LA, Alaska, Hawaii, or any US city with shift it.

As Hitler was doomed to loose WW2, so is China.

I am a farm kid. So I learned commodities on my Daddy's and Grandpa's knees.

China can't feed herself. The swine fever destroyed her herd to the point it will be a decade to recover (rumors are that someone else brought that bug to China). Their farmland is poisoned, and the farmers are not as efficient as we are. They are moving into South America and Africa to get the food and resources they need. While much has been written about China going into Siberia (they are, think Mexico going into California) the problem is that area is not developed enough for their needs.

We are in a hot war right now. A war for resources. One that we may not be winning. But China has a long line of supplies coming in from the outside, and we have a decent navy .

But the real question is will the US be willing to sacrifice a West Coast city or three to fight China?

Have you followed the news lately? I don't know that our navy has the gumption that it used too. We're intentionally breeding an intersectional force incapable of doing more than gazing at it's own belly button lint.

In my previous job, I worked with a lot of recently separated military. Of the Navy guys, the old Chiefs were my favorite. Their caustic sense of humor, love of coffee, and no F$$ks given hit my sense of humor very well. Same with the combat arms and medic boys and girls, though I did have to put rules in what is considered funny for vets and engineers may freak normal people out.

But most were deeply concerned about the state of their branches (well the Coastie wasn't, but he was the first Coast Guard guy I have ever met). SJW was the order of the day, and it was impacting their readiness. The Navy chief wasn't surprised when the destroyers got hit. He was surprised it wasn't a carrier.

Oh, and I made a point to give them all the first three GE books (if they read). d

Nickelodeon.. I remember some of those shows being kinda edgy for their time, well some parents thought so. Now they're so so so wholesome in comparison to the weird crap on TV now. I've had to sit in the ER many times at 3 in the morning, because my mom was in the hospital with heart attack scares.. Without fail, the lobby TV was always on Disney.. And all of their live action shows, all with teenagers being obnoxious, disrespectful, surrounded by clueless adults. And we wonder about kids attitudes now days.

CCP has been prepping for something for awhile. Look at their bases they created in the S. China Sea, primed to shut shipping down in that area. I'm fearful that we won't do as well as Nick thinks but I hope I'm wrong. It will be ugly regardless. Russia could swoop in and pick off the weakened victor.

My concern is that our Shining Ones will find us another Forever Land War in Asia that will erode our ability to face the CCP in whatever way they need to be faced. The Cold War is what gave them (and/or their mentors) their power, and that seems to be their playbook.

Might not be Asia this time: maybe they'll get us into a ground war over some cobalt or lithium mines somewhere. There are appalling human rights abuses that could be whipped up (with other ingredients) into a casus belli. Can't let it escalate too far, though: that "wouldn't be prudent at this juncture," and more the point wouldn't be an endless procurement stream for LockMart et al. The self-licking ice cream cone is flavored with American blood and treasure.
