Have you tried this with other models? Presumably part of the models training data set would include a lot of conspiracy stuff because it is trained on a large chunk of the internet. So even if it is just guessing the next token, it might be expected to give answers like this. And ChatGPT giving insane answers and leading people into deeply delusional thinking is a known thing. The bot will try to be helpful and go along with your ideas so the person could easily be getting into some sort of quite delusional feedback look.
There are other models though, what sort of answers do they give? It might be interesting to make a set of sample questions and dialogues and run them in an automated fashion against other models to see what results they give. To determine if something is going on here, or we are just looking at a weird artifact.
