#TolkienismSaturday
“The proper study of Man is anything but Man; and the most improper job of any man, even saints (who at any rate were at least unwilling to take it on), is bossing other men. Not one in a million is fit for it, and least of all those who seek the opportunity.”
-J.R.R. Tolkíen
Hard to disagree. Now, just like Middle Earth, those who seek power over others are so often the worst suited for it. Why, because despite their “noble words” their evil plundering actions are all for themselves. Do we have a wise Elrond, a saintly Gandalf, or a faithful Aragorn?
No.
We are surrounded only by Sarumans who feel that they have assumed some great burden on our behalf to rule over us, though we did not ask or consent, and a Grima media whispering lies, poisoning all who will listen. Silencing any who would dissent with trickery and the mean reigns of power. And what about a Dark Lord himself, waiting in the Land where Shadows lie… yes… most certainly.
The Medusa and I will do a podcast later today. Finished up Forgotten Ruin 5 last night and starting the Sequel to Strange Company on Monday. I will post chapters.
Podcasts resume next week. It’s good to be back. ;)
I think calling them Sarumans gives them too much credit. Boris Johnson or Angela Merkel are more like Orc #58,103, who eventually gets stepped on by a tree. Same holds true for their American counterparts. An AOC, an Omar, they're orcs. Except maybe Biden, Sanders and Pelosi, they could be wraiths.
It's left up to us hobbits to do what needs to be done.
Welcome back! Hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving!
