In the image below is the elvish translation of a promise contained within the novels regarding Aragorn.
‘From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;’
Maybe in these times that’s important to consider. Everything we know is being destroyed, turned to ashes, brought down so new evils called ‘good’ may arise.
It is dark and we have to be honest about that. But… whenever and wherever there is darkness, it does seem that light comes eventually. And often by our own simple actions. Walk into a dark room, turn on the light. In the woods at night, make a fire. Uncertain about some murky issue, drag it into the light and have a better look at it.
The orcs ARE on the march. The Tech Wizards ARE scheming from atop powerful towers of horde and dark alliance. And, behind all this there does seem to be some vast jealous and hateful eye seeing all its long contrived plots coming together as famine and war and disease, all seeming man-made, close in on us for one last battle for all the marbles.
The times are uncertain, and yes, very dark. But just remember this now… we find ourselves embers in the ashes of sanity, safety, and all that we once knew lying in ruin all around.
But we ARE embers… and with a little breath… we CAN become fire. WE CAN become a light in the dark.
‘From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;’
And… Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
Beautifully said, and while it's one of those sentiments that can't be proven true beforehand, experience and history both point to its inevitability.
The darkness of this era is also a crucible, and it is forging the very weapons that will defeat it.
